Finally! A Solution to All of America's Problems!

It was tried before and I believe it can work this time!

Back in the 1950's, when we were flush with cash and babies born just after the GI's got back from the war and needed jobs and sex, there were certainly some serious issues going on behind the scenes.  Jim Crow laws were in full force, segregation of the races was standard practice, women were discouraged from working let alone working for an equal wage to the men, and gays were still in the closet.

The English language was considered by everyone as the American language and the belief that Capitalism was the only "ism" acceptable as Good Patriotic American was not only popular but it was mandatory.

What did the American people do to keep things so positive and conflict free in the 1950's that we have forgotten?

Pretend the problems don't exist!  If pressed with actual facts of inequities and horrors within the fabric of American society, ignore them actively!  If further pressed, fear monger and make those outliers challenging the system our boys fought for overseas the Enemy!

Sure, there was McCarthyism to contend with and the best way to deal with these thought police and purists is to let them destroy people who have the gall to disagree with them!  Reward these Hunters of Witches with power by cowering in fear of the stink of being branded a Communist or a Communist Sympathizer or a Pinko.  Allow for the foaming at the mouth, screechy mob to ostracize those they decide are morally repugnant and, if you disagree with their scorched Earth rhetoric and bullying tactics, hide.

After all, it's not cowardice if cloaked in the cloth of self preservation, right?
