Flipping the Script
Yes, Literate Ape is a digital magazine with up to 15 contributing writers from Chicago and Boston to California and Tokyo. Literate Ape is an online forum for thought and discussion about anything and everything: Art, Culture, Politics, Personal Development. And, yes, Literate Ape is a producer of interesting and provocative live events within the Chicago area.
Previously, we enjoyed two nights of stories from the likes of Nestor Gomez, Ada Cheng, Archy Jamjun, Jacoby Cochran, Sarah Bunger, Annalise Raziq, Diane Kastiel, Kevin D'Ambrosio, Michael Herzovi, Steve Glickman, Phylis Porche and the pervasive and ever-present Scott Whitehair with our first outing In Danger of an Orange President.
Both nights were passionate and hopeful and filled with the kind of community that recognizes that we all have common ground to tread and, if we take the time to listen to one another, some good can come of it.
Along those lines, we are proud to present Identity Flip.
The concept of identity has become incredibly fluid in most recent days and the personal stories we tell reveal both how identity matters and how it is completely irrelevant. Identity Flip hopes to artistically explore this idea by pairing up disparate people in terms of societal identity and flip the script.
Featuring three white men (Scott Whitehair, Chris Trani, Joe Janes) and three black women (Jill Hopkins, Elizabeth Cambridge, Brittany Alston) as they tell stories of their identities in Chicago—flipped.
Tickets are $10 at the door (cash only) and gets you admission plus a beer.
Tuesday, January 24 at 8:00 p.m.
Gman Tavern next to Metro Chicago.
We hope you'll find the time to come out and listen, drink and discuss.
