I Believe… [Embracing Your Emotional Superpower]

By Don Hall

...that if you are truly committed to calling out all popular entertainment as problematic, your love for Hamilton is a hypocrisy. Alexander Hamilton owned slaves, wanted a President for life, loved the 2nd Amendment and was an elitist of the highest degree no matter how revisionist the musical is. As you enjoy the theater, you probably need to immediately go home, strip down and whip yourself with an electrical cord.

...that, when being forced to work with a former assistant who demonstrated mendacity, casual ruthlessness and generally low character in the past, being someone capable of compartmentalizing emotions and reactions is like a fucking superpower.

...that the practice of intermittent fasting is both harder and more beneficial than you think. Take a momentary break from being the Consumerist, Fatass American for a goddamned day, whydoncha?

…that your anxiety doesn't make you special and your bad habits don't indicate that you are smart. Pointless self affirmation for not being able to handle the demands of the world is like wearing a t-shirt that claims "I'm weak and ineffective and I don't care!"

…that, while I love Apple products (and loathe the GOP), its success is similar to the success of the Republican Party: closed system, core ideas, lots of design, uniformity of presentation. Samsung and the Progressives fall down into the rabbit hole trying to accommodate too many user demands, splitting its interface in to too many fractured pieces, and focusing on the negatives of the Other Side.
