I Believe… [The Positives of Trump]

By Don Hall

…that, despite the raw, unfettered stupidity in burning $150 shoes already purchased as protest, that single act was more effective in terms of getting the point across than every mass march this year.

…that there is a substantive difference between being disabled and being old just as there is a difference between a service animal and your emotional support ferret.

…that Serena Williams displayed genuinely shitty behavior on the tennis court and then used intersectionality, marginalization and perceived sexism to excuse it. On the other hand, it's tennis.

…that there is a huge disparity between dismantling the systemic power imbalances in place and flipping the systemic power imbalances in place. Switching the roles of which population oppresses and which is oppressed does not solve the problem, it merely enacts a pettiness that simply cannot be dialed back.

…that if there is anything positive about the Trump presidency it is that all of a sudden, more of the citizenry is paying attention to the mechanics of governance and he's making every other president we've ever had look great.
