I Believe… [Why Billionaires Shouldn't Run For Public Office]

…that if you use labels to define who you are in the world, you probably shouldn’t be surprised if the world limits you to the sum of those labels.

…that we’ve hit a point in American culture where even obvious online sarcasm is misinterpreted as sincere virtue signaling. I mean, we are in the Golden Age of Communication.

…that the polar vortex of 2019 was fucking ridiculous. Like Michael Bay ridiculous. At least it was my last Chicago winter so I feel a bit like Megan Fox after being told she wasn’t cast in Transformers: The Last Knight.

…that it’s far better to simply erase the people in your life who have caused you harm than spend even a single synapse thinking about them. This goes for those who associate with them, too.

…that the notion that billionaires are more qualified than others to run the country is founded on the capitalist belief that CEOs are somehow better leaders due to their success in swindling others to amass an unnecessary and obscene fortune. Creating wealth is a fundamentally selfish pursuit; civil service is a selfless occupation. We shouldn’t mix the two.
