Notes from the Post-it Wall | Week of November 24, 2019

By David Himmel

• We can’t predict the future. Therefore, we can’t predict how history will play out. We can, however, make informed estimates on how history will play out based on history itself. But that leaves a lot of room for a large margin of error. Squeeze that in among all of your certainty.

• Redirection is not defense of an argument. You redirect, you lose credibility and the argument. And a little of my respect.

• I’ve always seen myself as a young Jimmy Stewart. That’s insane, right? See how ridiculous it is to just “Do you” and “Forget about the haters?” They’re not haters. They’re people of sound mind telling you that your opinion of yourself is completely disconnected from reality.

• Seeing my son love his grandparents makes me love everything in the world so much more.

• Donald Trump deserves a round of applause for donating his third quarter salary to help fight the opioid crisis. We know he is powered by adoration, so maybe if we all go ape shit over this, he’ll do more good stuff.

• Nothing says “Happy Holidays!” like that fluish feeling.
