Notes from the Post-it Wall | Week of September 22, 2019

By David Himmel

• Misspelling the word “perfect” is the best way to define irony. Why didn’t Alanis Morissette sing about that, huh?

• I respect the guy, but Malcolm Gladwell is not a genius. He’s not even that interesting. He’s perceived that way because he’s a well-spoken black guy. Yeah, I said it. And you’re all racists.

• An impeachment in the House won’t bring us any closer to removing Trump from office. Not unless we can elect a majority of lawful senators in 2020. And then impeachment is only possible if he wins a second term, which, there’s a pretty good chance he will, especially with this impeachment inquiry empowering his base to dig their heels in and get even louder. Eye on the real goal: a better America. That doesn’t necessarily mean an America without Trump.

• It is nice to see the House working together rather than all that stupid in-fighting over how far Nancy Pelosi had to walk to school in the snow, uphill, both ways versus how the new Representatives didn’t have text books at their school because of budget cuts and probably climate change.

• The Highwomen have made better country music in one album than all of the country music Taylor Swift made.

• Katy Perry made better pop music on her second album than all of the pop music Taylor Swift has made. Yeah, I said it. And you’re all racists.
