Notes from the Post-it Wall | Week of January 5, 2020

By David Himmel

• I’d rather be stuck in traffic driving a stick-shift with a shoddy clutch on a gravel road with a full bladder than use a traditional computer mouse. Trackpad Guy ’til I die.

• I love my alone time, but when I go too long without meeting new people or engaging with strangers, I lose the muscle memory and mass of my charming social skills. I need to be around the people I will eventually need to retreat from.

• I’m only as charming as you want me to be.

• A poor tradesperson always blames their tools. A good tradesperson blames their union and buys new tools.

• I have a tendency to talk a lot. But I listen a lot, too. And that’s how I know that most of us are wrong most of the time.

• Even your soul mate can hold a different opinion than you or take a different approach to achieving the same goal. Don’t expect the worst of the people you’ve come to trust. Because that’s not trust, that’s manipulated self-destruction.
