Trip Report Day 7: Grand Canyon, Arizona

Dogs are allowed on the rim trail, which runs about 14 miles around the canyon. We walked about half of it with Nola and meeting people who were either afraid of her, excited to see her, or worried that we weren’t giving her enough water. Stunning, terrifying, expansive.

Dog-friendly rim trail.

Got back to the rig around noon and took a nap, then left Nola at home to enjoy a late lunch at El Tovar, the historic hotel on the canyon rim; however, they don’t do a late lunch. We were so hungry we couldn’t decide whether to wait for dinner or eat a bunch of bar snacks, so we had a fight instead which ended with me joining the Nature Conservancy.

Trying to plan each day is a challenge. Not enough time, too much to see. So many options, all loaded with mileage. Over dinner, we accepted that for either of us to advocate any particular choice, we have to be okay with the fact that it might not end up being an awesome experience and will definitely cost us some time. Not sure we’ve fixed anything beyond a vague resolution to “be more clear.”
