Notes from the Post-it Wall | Week of October 25, 2020

By David Himmel

• Often, things aren’t what they seem. Let’s not forget that Bill Cosby turned out to be the bad guy and Prof. Snape was a good guy all along. Question your certainty.

• I don’t want us to go back to normal. I want us to go forward to better.

• Being in the middle of the road—metaphorically—isn’t a weakness or an indecision. You can be a Ginger and Mary Ann guy. You can be Team Jacob and Team Edward. You can like the White Sox and the Cubs. Having a variety of tastes is a sign of intelligence and, at times, empathetic understanding of the human condition.

• Ninety-nine percent of the time, 100% of the dumb shit we do is because we let our emotions take the wheel.

• Reacting to what you think is going to happen is the fast track to disappointment and failure. Unless you’re playing chess.

• Hypocrisy is the second least attractive trait in people. Not recognizing your hypocrisy is the first.
