Notes from the Post-it Wall | Week of July 19, 2020
• The polls say Biden is ahead of Trump. Why are we listening to polls? Why do we have any faith in pools? Has 2016 taught us nothing? Of course not, because we’re fucking stupid.
• Those who think removing statues of Confederate heroes and violent colonizers are erasing history don’t understand how history works. There’s no statue of Kid Rock but that doesn’t mean he and Cheryl Crow never recorded a duet. If you want to be reminded of history, read a book. It’s more informative than a chunk of granite.
• 2016. The Cubs win the World Series. A week later, Donald Trump is elected president. How do Cubs fans sleep at night?
• You want to know why I have little to no hope for the future of this country? Two Broke Girls is still in syndication.
• HBO’s Perry Mason makes me want to be a private investigator during the Great Depression the way Showtime’s Dexter made me want to be a serial killer in the mid-2000s.
• The biggest drawback to not living by yourself is that you have to live with other people.
