I Believe... [Parsing Out Sensitivity]

By Don Hall

...that the single best form of self-help and self-care these days is to simply USE YOUR MIND, NOT YOUR FEELINGS.

...that the problem with labeling certain actions as “moral” and “immoral” is that once you’ve used it, your specific morality comes into play regarding the veracity of your claim.

...that creating lesser standards of academic success for diversity rationales is both infantilizing to marginalized communities and is only slightly different than Trump’s early assertion that the pandemic was worse because we were testing so much for it.

...that blanket accusations of bad behavior sans specifics should be met with nothing less than “This, my friends, is bullshit.” Until you can be specific about the accusation, you’re simply a grifter using the current political divide to foment your own fame-whoring.

...that we should all be more sensitive but not be more sensitive. The former is about simple politeness, the latter is about myopic self-centeredness.
