I Believe... [Comfort is Overrated]

By Don Hall

...that, despite where we are, I have a certain rational faith in the power of the enduring growth of the logical mind and the inherent desire for cooperation in humanity. I’m a Star Trek sort of kid, you know.

...that, in the pursuit of tribalization and siloed communities (along racial, sexual, or political divides), our biggest fallacy is the monolithing of those communities in terms of basic ideology. The #NotAll____ is more accurate than any other hashtag thus created.

...that “Be Better” and “Do Better” are only effective as suggestions rather than demands unless it comes from 1979 Robert Duvall followed by a basketball to the face.

...that when a credible news source includes a headline that promises “Here Are the Reactions on Twitter” that news source has lost its credibility. Imagine an Esquire piece promising “Here Are the Reactions of Seven People Living in Refrigerator Boxes Somewhere Near a Park” and you see.

...that the worst perpetual state for any human creative is comfortable. Seeking out discomfort is the source of every great risk and every great reward.
