I Believe... [Uniting Against a Common Enemy]

...that the reason most of America ignores voting for banking reform or legal remedies for income inequity can summed up in the mad rush to get Powerball Lotto tickets—we all think we can be one of the wealthy fuckers in spite of every indication that we will not be.

If only we could combine voting with the hopelessness of not winning money...

...that in the dystopian Aliens Attack the Earth books and films, mankind comes together against a common enemy that transcends nationality, race, class and religion.  If our global response to Trump is any indication of how we actually respond to a World Class Threat, the aliens are gonna kick our infighting asses.

...that the brighter side of the ban on transgender folks in the military is that when The Trumpster Fire finally foments a war, mostly straight people become cannon fodder.

...that a week of Game of Thrones, Taylor Swift, and a boxing match where everyone seems invested in them at different turns makes me feel either vastly superior to the rest of the tribe because I'm not interested in the stuff of adolescent distractions or hopelessly out of touch.

...that words only receive the power we give to them by reacting to and oppressing their use and that Lenny Bruce was right 50 years ago when he said, "...that it's the suppression of the word that gives it the power, the violence, the viciousness..." which is why we should, as Dizzy Gillespie advised, "Play every note loud. Especially the wrong ones."
