I Believe… [The Power of the People = Rich White Guys for Governor]

By Don Hall

…that the act of watching just the trailer of the upcoming Mr. Rogers documentary is enough to make you wanna be a nicer, kinder human being. You think the wealthy and corrupt have power? That ain't power. The ability to instill a sense of compassion and love into the harsh realities of a fucked up society? That's power.

…that the sight of so many hundreds of thousands of protesters marching in streets all over the US in solidarity against the pernicious NRA is beautiful and inspiring but it's gonna take money to get the laws changed. Campaign and vote for anti-gun politicians who take no cash from the gun lobby and we might have a chance.

…that when we have yet another election for Illinois governor between two white billionaires, we need to re-evaluate our strategies in convincing the population to vote for better. The "aren't we cool and progressive" smugness, the angry moralizing , and the appeals to be humane for all citizens don't seem to be working...

…that deleting Faceborg and Twitter is like throwing away the keys to your car or eliminating hammers and nails from your house. It ain't the tools, dimwit, it's how you use them.

…that a president who engaged in a pre-emptive war that resulted in over a million deaths based on manufactured false evidence of weapons is probably worse than a president who is a comically stupid loudmouth asshole but what do I know?
