Notes from the Post-it Wall |Week of November 1, 2020
• If your idea of religious freedom is “bringing Jesus back to schools,” you clearly missed the lesson on religious freedom.
• I look forward to knowing the indisputable results of the presidential election so that we can enjoy our holiday season debating whether “Baby It’s Cold Outside” is a rape song or not. (It is. That’s how shit got done in President Truman’s America.)
• I die of shame when my dog barks at a Black person. It doesn’t happen often, but it happened today. And, ugh.
• I really think I’m more of a country person than a city person. Not for the social politics, for fuck’s sake, but for the quiet and space to be with the natural quiet and space. Perhaps this is age settling in. But mostly, I’m pretty sure this is who I’ve always been.
• Writer’s block is often not an issue of having nothing to say, but of having too much to say and there’s a thought traffic jam happening in your brain.
• I’ve said this before, and I’m still not comfortable with it, but true bravery is facing your uncomfortable truths. Ivanka Trump kinda does it for me. And by the looks of her husband, I’m her type, which only exacerbates my weird attraction to her.
