Liz Cheney Ousted! The GOP Bounces a Fact Check

The GOP gives their action to remove Cheney four flags on their conservative rating platform WHELP.

The GOP’s battle cry against cancel culture culminated without irony today with an off-the-record vote to remove Liz Cheney from the House Republican Conference Chair position. She is no longer a chair and, in the process, no longer a doormat for Donald Trump.

The Republican Party’s reason for Cheney’s downward shift?

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said in a letter to members that “our leadership team cannot afford to be distracted from the important work that we were elected to do.”

The distraction being, apparently, Liz Cheney calling out Donald Trump’s Big Lie and supporting the results of the 2020 election.

Here are the things the GOP would LOVE to be distracted by instead…

  • A horse that  failed a drug test

  • Vaccines and masks

  • Racist Dr. Seuss books no longer being published

  • Statues of losers

  • Gasoline hoarding

  • History books and history teachers that discuss racism or any of the crappy things the U.S. is guilty of committing

  • Slavery — it wasn’t THAT bad!

  • Jill Biden’s fashion choices (I really don’t care. Do U?)

  • Libs cancelling Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, Talk Like A Pirate Day, whatever holiday is coming up

  • Democrats coming after your freedom and your guns and your freedom and your guns and your freedom and your guns. Also, your freedom and your guns

  • The deficit (which ballooned to its highest under Trump after his tax cuts for the rich)

  • Unemployment benefits (helping people eat and pay rent makes them lazy!)

  • Healthcare (still waiting for Trump’s beautiful replacement plan for the ACA)

  • Fair Election Voting Laws (ahem, voter suppression—based on an election that members of their own party declared the safest in history)

Meanwhile, they are happy to ignore…

  • Matt Gaetz’s sex trafficking case, which also involves statutory rape, the insurrection that GOP members of Congress supported, and that Rand Paul calls himself a doctor
