Notes from the Post-it Wall | Week of December 1, 2024

By David Himmel

• Everyone hates their significant other’s therapist.

• There’s nothing more beautiful than a silent night at home on the couch with the Christmas tree’s lights twinkling their reflection in your scotch glass.

• The hardest part of being a dad is wanting to be everything to the children you care about more than anything else in the world, but knowing you can’t be. And the best thing about being an uncle is making up for your brother or sister’s failings.

• Sometimes, I think I rely on booze as a crutch too often. And every time I have that thought I think, “Yep, that’s exactly right.”

• If COVID didn’t make it obvious that our absurd and broken healthcare system needs an overhaul, maybe slaughtering the swine who run the healthcare insurance game will. And maybe, just maybe, we’ll get a system in place that doesn’t financially punish the sick.

• This Christmas season, let’s not argue whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie, let’s all agree that Lethal Weapon is also a Christmas movie.
