Notes from the Post-it Wall | Week of May 19, 2024

By David Himmel

• Time and space heals all annoyances.

• Hannah Gadsby was just in town. Which is why you didn’t hear any laughter in Chicago the other day.

• My wedding was when I felt the most collective, unbridled love from my friends and family. Going through this divorce, I’ve felt the same level of love. I’m one lucky sonofabitch.

• Love is treating someone the way they want to be treated even when they don’t deserve it.

• It should only rain at night. And we should only have to poop right before bed. This one-hour-after-my-morning-shower shit ain’t workin for me.

• Remember that really bad pimple right in the middle of the bridge of your nose? The big one. The huge one. The one that wouldn’t pop but you kept picking at it anyway. And it eventually just became a massive, lumpy scab? The one that looked like a third eye? Remember how you were sure it would never go away? Then it did. That’s life, man. This ugly, painful thing too shall pass.

But that ass pimple that feels four inches below the surface yet feels like it’s always ready to burst? That’s chronic.
