Just Another Bad Habit

By Elizabeth Harper

Just Another Bad Habit

I’m just another bad habit
Another way of avoiding success
And staying in trouble

A reminder that what you want to do
Isn’t what you should
According to others who don’t matter

A comforting inertia
A familiar status quo
Entertainment you can count on

A show that never gets old
Rerun marathon bliss
Couch potato reminisce

Who’s to judge?
Everything is relative
Whatever gets you through

The next day and the next
Until the inevitable relief
The permanent end
