Notes from the Post-it Wall | Week of February 2, 2025

By David Himmel

• Relationships take a lot of energy. Even the good ones. In fact, the good relationships are probably good because of the energy put into them. The trick is to not let the relationship drain all your reserves. You need them for other things.

• Donald Trump sows chaos by design. When you panic over each thing he says and does, you’re giving him exactly what he wants. Don’t take the bait. Don’t eat the cheese.

• Distracted thinking breeds the purest ideas.

• Go on, live your truth. But recognize that part of that truth is that your actions, in whatever manner, affect people. So, if you’re going to live your truth, you have to live with the accountability that comes with it. Otherwise, the truth is, you’re just an asshole.

• The Democratic Party needs to die more than a 98-year-old man riddled with cancer who’s been racking up the hospice bills because he’s too stubborn to recognize when it’s time to leave. You’re done. You can only shoot yourself in the foot so many times before you bleed out.

• The Republican Party needs to turn off FOX News and read a book. Doesn’t matter which one. Because a book will push them to calm down and think for a moment. Okay, wait, it does matter which book. Nothing about modern politics or anything having to do with Donald Trump. Maybe something by Homer. Or Mary Oliver. Or Kurt Vonnegut.
