I Believe… [Too Little Butter]

...that when the job doesn’t pay well, the very minimum responsibility of the organization is to make the work meaningful and treat the workers with a sense of value. A person who feels appreciated will always exceed expectations.

...that if one has no capacity for violence then the commitment to peace has no substance.

...that empathy is a limited and local resource. Expanding one’s desire to empathize with an increasing number of people spreads it thin like too little butter on too much bread.

...that the wound that doesn’t bleed still aches—ambition unspent becomes torment unseen.

...that a long walk along Lake Michigan isn’t just a stroll—it’s a low-grade exorcism wrapped in wind and water.
