Notes from the Post-it Wall | Week of March 2, 2025

by David Himmel

• There’s no S in “Daylight Saving.” But there is one in “You’re all idiots.” Why is this so hard for people?

• Kirkland single malt scotch goes down way too easy.

• I’m finding that much of the frustration I have with woke arguments is that, often, the person making the argument lacks historical knowledge, current data, and is operating purely on a momentary emotional buzz. Then, if the topic comes up again later, they do not remember making their argument, which forces me to believe that they never believed what they were saying to begin with.

• Music at a sporting event is a cocktease. Just when you’re into it—you’re primed to scream out the chorus with all your lungs’ strength—they shut it off to resume the game. Ergo, concerts > sporting events.

• Many of the arguments on the conservative side of things fall to shit when you present them with the obvious contradictions. Hey, we’re all hypocrites. Knowing that and checking yourself is where truth prevails.

• The future is a finicky bastard. And the present, sometimes, doesn’t seem to care about us at all. That’s why the past seems like the safest place to spend our time. And that’s why we fail. Be brave. Be uncomfortable.
