Notes from the Post-it Wall | Week of Thanksgiving 2024
• I’m thankful for my dog, Molly, for being my spastic roommate always ready and willing to provide calming, unending love in my quietly spastic moments of too much reflection.
• I’m thankful for wannabe social media influencers for giving me someone to hate and feel pity for simultaneously. Keep trying, never give up, no matter how many people never watch, no matter how many sponsors you don’t get. Live your dream. Ars gratia artis—if we can be so bold to consider what you do art.
• I’m thankful for my father for his giving heart even though he microwaves the steak I cooked him because he prefers his meat gray and tough, rather than red and juicy.
• I’m thankful for my mom for her love and support even though she sold all my Transformer and He-Man toys at a garage sale.
• I’m thankful for my children for their humor, intelligence, and kindness even though they often act just like the worst version of me and look like the best version of my ex-wife.
• I’m thankful for the daily reminder that the Universe loves, hates, and could not care less about us.
