Notes from the Post-it Wall | Week of December 22, 2024

By David Himmel

• Sometimes, you have to be a rat. Chew through the drywall, the metal, the concrete; eat the dirt the shit, the trash; live in dark and filthy confines. Sometimes you have to be a rat to escape the situation you’re in.

• It’s not anti-Semitism that’ll destroy the Jewish people. It’s the divide between how to spell Hanukkah.

• The best stories come from the wildly unexpected.

• The week between Christmas and New Year’s Day is what it feels like if the DeLorean stalled before it arrived in its intended year. Truly a space where time functions differently.

• The joy of giving your children gifts on Christmas takes on an air of competition once you’re divorced.

• Having a good set of lips to kiss at midnight on New Year’s Eve won’t ensure you a great year, but it’s a helluva good start.
